April 20, 2011

Two Saturday’s ago the girls played in the All Girls Tourney for Rugby. We have practiced with them since February, took March off and then had 1 practice before the tourney. As we spoke to the coach and the manager, they said that they were not going to put the girls in to a 14 and under game. This was fine with me, because honestly, they are as tall as the girls, but some out weigh them by a solid 30 – 50 pounds. (Both girls are around 70 pounds).

Our coach was nice enough to go to another team and ask them if the girls could just play a couple of games with them. The coaches for the Sandy Bay team were very supportive and let them play. Gab played for the 10 and unders and Hannah played with the 12 and unders. I had made a deal with the girls that if they scored, I would give them $50 HKD and for each tackle, they got $5 HKD. Gabby ended up scoring 2 of the 4 try’s for the team and had two tackles. After, the coach did ask Jonathan what we planned on doing with Gabby for next year since she will still be on the 10 and under team.

Hannah played with another Sandy Bay team and they were great. They got her in every game and the girls really helped her along. She didn’t score, but did come close. She ended up helping with a solid 10 tackles that day. Hannah did inform us that she does like swimming and karate better. I think that this really shows her personality. When someone got tackled, she was more concerned whether or not the girl was going to get up rather than where the ball was. As the game went on, this changed a bit.

Fashion

Not too much I can say about this. I will let the pictures show what I mean.

**Leopard print shoes with blue striped tights
Skull and cross bone rights with sneakers --- and AGAIN a leopard print skirt that barley covers her butt.

Striped tights and birks (Tammy Orion made me take this one!)

Transportation

After being in the US, I have really come to appreciate the HK transportation system. The MTR is really run well. The buses are clean and pretty much on time. One thing that I have to come to notice is really how much more easy going people are here when it comes to driving. Here is an example. When we got on the mini bus and we are getting ready to head out of Happy Valley, you have to make a right turn while cars are themselves merging from two lanes to one. I am always amazed that the bus just pulls out and someone lets them in. In the US, a car would have hit the bus and no one would have let them in.

The girls and I did a little photo shoot of some different cars in the area. Here is some of the pictures we took.

I still don't understand parking on the sidewalk when there is parking spaces available on the other side of the street. As for the two license plate thing, the top white one is for Hong Kong and the bottom black one is for mainland China.
