It's May 1st

First ... Happy Birthday to Gabby. She is 9 today (though, she acts like she is closer to 19).

Laurel was here for the weekend. We had a great time with tons of laughs. She helped clean out the basement and sent 3 BIG boxes of creative memories stuff back home. I think that she was shocked to see all that I still had.

Jonathan and I went to NY on Tuesday for a meeting on Wednesday. We had a great time together and went to see the Statue of Liberty. We went to check into the hotel in Montvale and then had a simple dinner at a local Italian resturant. It was a great meal. That is the one thing that Atlanta is really missing (at least in our area), family resturants.

I worked on Thursday and Friday this week to catch up on stuff from the beginning of the week. I am starting to give some of my job duties away. It is really sad, because I really enjoy my job and the people that I work with. Not everyone can say that.

So ... that brings us to Friday night. Gabby had a sleep over last night with her friends. D.R.A.M.A. Gabby said that it was the worset party EVER. There were a bunch of girls with completely different personalities all wanting some kind of attention. Welcome to life. They woke up this morning around 7 in a much better mood.

Hannah on the otherhand.... She had her friend, Caroline, over to spend the night. They ended up at Alison's house and wanted to spend the night there. They did, and then I got a call around 11 saying Hannah was throwing up. What added a hint of humor to it, was Lisa's phone was cutting out so that I could only hear every other word. I picked her up and then she had told me that she had puked 3 times already (it only took me about 2 minutes to get her). She ended up throwing up all night. It looks like something is going around the 'hood. Lucky us!

Jonathan left last night around 8:45 to drive over to Rome to do an Olympic tri this morning. I didn't want him here in the morning because I can't even imagine him getting up at 4 and waking 8 little girls up as he got all of his stuff ready for the tri. It sounds terrible, I know, but he just had to go to a hotel. (then we can't be blamed for him being tired and not having enough rest!)

We are now at the point in this process that we are starting to shut things off. These are bittersweet moments.

Onto Hong Kong news:

I think that we are going to live in Discovery Bay. I know we have waffled on this, but now I think that it really is the best place for the girls. They will be able to make friends easily there and we will have about 600 sq ft more in an apt for the same price (900 sqft vs 1500 sq ft). We have a couple hotel rooms reserved, until June 10th, but I really would like to find one the first week that we are there so we can get settled in as soon as possible. I think that it will make the transition a lot quicker and smoother. Jonathan pointed out that I was being very "hard" on the living conditions, in terms of where we were going to live and what I wanted out of this rotation and that I needed to soften up a bit. He was right.

We need to order the girls schooling stuff this week so we can bring that with us. I'm not sure what else will happen this week ... Good times!

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GABBY!!!

I had a great time during my visit AND we did laugh alot, didn't we? Poor Jonathan. I will bring John along next time to up the testosterone level. I was shocked at the amount of CM stuff that you still had but happy for me! I received the boxes Thursday. Yay!

Sorry about the stomach bug. Any of the other girls at the sleepover have problems since then?

Glad to hear that you guys are narrowing down your living options. Not a huge amount of time left to make decissions from afar.

  3. I am sure it has to feel good to start to get a better idea of just what your new life is going to "look" like, including where you will live.

I'm thinking of you guys every day. I am sure it is quite a whirl wind of activity over there. :)
